The Mooney Family Thanks The Town

Now, that was a good day…

t was the sort of send-off normally reserved for royalty and rock stars, and sure, wasn’t Bridie a little bit of both…

With the town pretty much coming to a standstill on Friday, September 25th for the funeral of Mrs Bridie Mooney, it’s only now that her family have been able to get around to thanking those who sent all their love and condolences.

For Patrick, Agnes, Teresa, Thomas, Brigid, Áine and Bob, witnessing such heartfelt outpourings made their grief that little bit less painful – and their memories of their mother that little bit more joyous.

This evening, they issued the following thank you to the town, and beyond…

The family of the late Bridie Mooney deeply appreciate and will always hold in grateful remembrance your kind expressions of sympathy with them in their recent sad loss. 

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the many friends, neighbours, customers and well-wishers who formed a guard of honour, and to all the local business and schools who dimmed their lights, observed a minutes silence and held a round of applause as her remains arrived at the Church of the Holy Rosary.

Thank you to everyone who provided emotional and practical support for us at this difficult time – for those who telephoned, sent messages, letters, flowers, cards, as well as those who made charitable donations, we are truly grateful.

A special word of thanks to the management, nurses and staff of Greystones Nursing Home for their kindness and respect shown at all times.

For those who participated in the mass – including Fr John Daly, Fr Gerard Tyrrell and Fr Denis Quinn, the musicians and Mark Kinsella Funeral Directors for the professional handling of the arrangements – thank you. Thank you also to the Gardai in Greystones, The Irish Times, Greystones Guide, The Bray People and The Wickow Times.

Bridie’s passing leaves an unbridgeable chasm in the lives of all her family and friends.

It is impossible to thank everyone personally, and please accept this acknowledgment as an expression of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
