t was a perfect finish to a perfect month for Pierce Cahill.

Have started out on May 1st, this ridiculously-fit young man has run 5k each and every day for his beloved Lakers.

And having started out with the hope of raising €1,000, the current total for Pierce’s run has just passed the €15,000 mark.

Which will make a huge difference to this Bray-based charity that offers support to those with learning disabilities, helping them lead a full and fun life.

Boom!

Having been joined by various friends over the monthincluding a bunch of Greystones Rugby Club captains and the mighty Lisa and her even mightier mutt, Rio – Pierce would have seen many familiar happy faces when he ran through that ribbon just after 10am this morning.

Chief among them would be his main cheerleader (and mum), Diane, but there were people from all four corners of Wicklow, all there to celebrate a remarkable achievement.

And, of course, one remarkable lad.

There were cheers. There were tears. And there was lots of emotional hugging, everyone there, it seems, having been vaccinated. And given that no one had their jumper on back-to-front or upside down, there didn’t seem to be anti-vaxxers present. Except, maybe, for that one stoney-faced fecker, of course.

So, happy days, for a somewhat knackered young man in a daze. “I’ve got to go training after this!” he told us, “Luckily, I always keep some my energy in reserve.”
