rowing up in Turkey, Sinan Osan always had his eye on the prize of running his own restaurant one day.

Meh

That he would end up in sunny Ireland, and with one of Greystones’ most popular eateries, well, his imagination didn’t quite stretch that far…

“I got a degree in hotel and business management back in Turkey,” he explains on this sunny Monday afternoon, “and, to be honest, my dreams weren’t quite as big as what actually happened after that. Moving to Ireland in 1998, falling in love with the woman who would become my wife, falling in love with Ireland, and then Greystones…

“I’m one very, very lucky man.”

And Greystones is one very, very lucky town to have Sinan’s Las Tapas, which opened its doors for the very first time here on March 14th, 2014. Four years before that, Sinan and his wife, Yvonne, had taken a gamble on a vacant Cabinteely café, working 6 or 7 days a week to build it up to a point where they felt ready to take that leap into Greystones, and the old Bels Bistro building.

“It might sound silly, but it’s really just been in the last year that I’ve sat back a little and enjoyed what we’ve achieved,” continues Sinan.

“Yvonne and I put everything into Las Tapas, and now our kids, Duran and Bella, have become a big part of the restaurant too, with our youngest, Katie, all set to join the family business next summer.

“So, it looks like we might be here to stay…”
