There will be cake…

iven just how popular they’ve been in the past, it was a happy day when Greystones got its harbour market back last year.

And it was all thanks to those clever Greystones Tidy Towns chancers.

Launched in memory of the late, great John Harrington, The Plaza Market hit the ground running, giving the lazy-ass townsfolk a much-needed reason to get out that door and all gather down by the sea. In a great big tent.

John was part of both The Boat Yard Market and the Greystones Art & Photography Exhibition, and he would no doubt have been mighty happy to see this fine summer tradition living on in his name.

Made possible with a little moolah from the harbour’s corporate overlords Sisk, the new market will return on June 1st and run every Sunday.

And anyone who’d like to have a stall can do so for just €25, the money going to local Tidy Towns projects, whilst the market will also include four free platform areas for local community groups keen to recruit some new volunteers and shake that can.

One good turn deserves another.

Running Sundays from 11am until 5.30pm, last orders will be August 31st. So, make the most of it, people. And Sunday June 1st comes with a free day of Wellness goodies on the green too.
