My Greystones: Eileen Horan

Some people seem to be just too good to be true. And it’s usually the truly good people – like Eileen Horan.

An honorary Greystonian, given the incredible work this classy Kilcooler does in the area, Eileen recently won the Special Award at the Greystones People Of The Year shindig at the beginning of June. And rightly so.

Having been nominated by her fellow volunteers at Greystones Cancer Support, Eileen’s sterling work there for the last 12 years has been invaluable. And inspirational. Having undertaken further training from the National University of Ireland in Maynooth in order to serve those attending Greystones Cancer Support even more, Eileen was awarded a Certificate in Counselling.

Add to that Eileen’s work with Peata (a voluntary association which provides a pet therapy service to caring institutions), Meals On Wheels and assisting with christenings in St. Anthony’s Parish in Kilcoole, and, bejiggers, you’ve pretty much got yourself a walking, talking, living saint.

So, how come Eileen Horan’s laugh sound so devilish…?
