Through The Loadout Glass

We have, of course, experienced young Tara Dempsey’s knack for creating award-winning art before.

Back in April 2017, there was the little matter of her painting, Brain Dead, winning Tara the title of Temple Carrig School’s Overall Junior Artist Of The Year.

And then there was Taken, the five-piece band Tara formed with her fellow TC classmates, which won the public prize in our 2017 Battle of The Bands.

And now, hey, the teen with the seemingly endless array of talents has gone and written a play.

A one-act, heading-for-the-stage, state-of-the-virtual-union play. At the ripe old age of 16.

Dang, reckon that young Simon Harris must be feeling ever-so-slightly like an under-achiever right now.

Telling the tale of teenagers Máire and Charlotte as a video game designed to turn player against player threatens to tear their friendship apart, Through The Screen will make its stage debut at Temple Carrig School on Thursday, January 31st and Friday, February 1st. Tickets are €10 for adults and €5 for kids, and you can grab yours on eventbrite right here.

For Tara, a big part of the night is the fact that it’s a fundraiser for a volunteer aid trip to Jamaica, organised by the noted charity, Mustard Seed, along with Temple Carrig School. Here’s the lady herself to explain more…
