It was, of course, a wonderful start to a weekend of history…

Get the town’s future – represented here by the 6th class of St Brigid’s – to launch the weekend with a presentation on Women Of The Irish Revolution, and a deep connection therein to Greystones.

The kids were amazing, for the most part, and their presence seemed to spark the speakers for the evening. Dr Conor Mulvagh (UCD) was there to talk about Manufacturing Consensus: Polite Society, Policy & The Irish Connection, Professor Maurice Manning (UCD) followed with Making A Reality of Independence: The First Free State Government, and the first evening of this two-day event finished with Dr Ida Milne (NUI, Maynooth) and her talk on The Quiet Corner Back: Protestant Engagement With The GAA.
