Tidy Towns Dig Up Some Gold

t’s the fact that Greystones Tidy Towns is made up of the sort of volunteers who ain’t in it for the money, the glory or the Instagram likes.

They’re out there digging up weeds, planting flowers and picking up other people’s rubbish because they want their town to be beautiful.

Which is just what the annual SuperValu TidyTowns Awards are always on the lookout for. Not only how beautiful a town or village might be, but the sure signs that lots of mud, sweat and tea went into making it that way.

This afternoon, at Shelbourne Hall in the RDS, the Greystones Tidy Towns crew were recognised for their incredible work, earning them a gold medal alongside county neighbours Wicklow Town and Arklow.

“We’re so over the moon,” the gang tells us, still reeling from the win. “And we want to thank everyone in the town for their support. It’s such a team effort, and every little bit of help truly makes a huge difference…”

Alongside the Gold, Greystones picked up a County Third award, as did Wicklow Town, whilst Arklow nabbed a County First Award alongside their Gold as well as hitting the top spot in the Midlands & East region. Baltinglass picked up Wicklow’s Endeavour Award.

Congrats to all the winners across the country this year.
