Tommaso Makes It Ten In A Row

Is that a smile trying to break through…?

t had the feeling of a foregone conclusion when we finally swung by The Bitter Lemon this afternoon to give Tommaso his latest award for Greystones’ Best Coffee.

Nonetheless, we did spy a hint of relief on the old man’s face, given that each year, there are a few more java joints in this town.

That Tommaso also made a hurried call in Italian – we could only make out ‘risparmia il cavallo‘ – once he saw his 2024 award suggests that the lad may have had a Plan B in mind, should his winning streak have come to an end this year.

It’s a big one, of course, this latest title fight being Tommaso’s tenth win in a row.

“It’s definitely a big one for me,” offers the Caffé Delle Stelle fella, “because I feel that ten in a row means that we are now, in truth, the all-time champion when it comes to Greystones coffee.

“No matter how many other cafés and restaurants come – and go – in Greystones, we’ll always be the only one to win the first ten Best Coffee awards.

“That makes me happy. Almost.”

As we grab some pics with competition sponsor Bob Mooney, Tommaso is keen to thank everyone who voted for him, and to give a big shout-out to his fellow coffee competitors in the town.

“We’re all one big happy family in Greystones. And it’s great to see people once again want to keep it that way…”
