Trish Makes Bookseller Of The Year List

t was champagnes agus chuckles all round down at Halfway Up The Stairs last night, as the Greystones bookshop celebrated a unique achievement.

Namely, being the only Irish nominee for this year’s Children’s Bookseller Of The Year awards.

Covering the UK and sunny Ireland, this annual hurrah for all things bookish and brilliant had former funnyman Lenny Henry presenting the prize, with the judges praising all nine nominees in Halfway’s category for their remarkable resilience over the past 12 months.

“These booksellers have had a traumatic year,” they said, “and it’s incredible to find that they have emerged from it even stronger.”

Helping owner Trish Hennessy celebrate were Amanda and Meriel, all three dressing up for the occasion and raising that glass of bubbly to celebrate.

“In the end,” says Trish, “Moon Lane in Ramsgate, Kent were worthy winners, but we were so happy to be nominated, especially given that we’ve only been in business for a year and a half now…”
