With photography, very often the greatest shots are all down to timing…
That perfect rainbow arc, the broadest smile by your normally sourpussed baby, that seagull nicking your chip right on cue…
When it comes to exploring hidden treasures though, it’s really all about gaining access.
We’ve posted amazing shots of the rotting insides of The La Touche Hotel before, but we were keen to capture the place one more time, now that its demise looks so very, very imminent.
A thousand and one requests to the owners were worth but feck-all though compared to a guy on a digger who simply says, “Yeah, sure, go ahead – just be careful“.
Such was the case when local architectural snapper Creative Photography Ireland simply called into the open car park of The La Touche Hotel. With a nod from the debonair digger, our boy quickly ran through this once-vibrant, once-heaving building, a haven to a thousands and one aristocrats and artists, and, in more recent times, quite a few disco dudes and dancing queens too.
You can check out our previous scenes inside the former goldmine here, check out Creative Photography Ireland’s work on their website here, and revisit The La Touche Hotel in all its prime right here.
