ad news this morning, as we were informed that Willie Mitchell had passed.

The Crowe Abbey cool cat was in his nineties when we took the above shot in January of this year.

And, as you can see, Willie still has the glint in his eye…

Here’s today’s announcement…

William Mitchell Greystones, Wicklow
William (Willie) Mitchell of Crowe Abbey and late of Redford, Greystones who passed away in his 92nd year on Saturday 18th December 2021. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Betty née Ivory) and much-loved father of Willie, Catherine and Dessie and brother of Claire, Veronica, Mick, Georgie and Joe. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Willie was predeceased by his siblings Des, Eddie, Peter, Maura, Lucy, Patricia and Rosaleen. May they rest in peace.

Willie will repose at the family home from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday evening with adherence to current guidelines. Removal on Wednesday at 1.30pm to the Holy Rosary Church, Greystones, arriving for funeral Mass at 2pm followed by interment in Redford Cemetery. The funeral Mass can be viewed here.
