A Mini-League Of Their Own

Proud…

t was a week of goals and growls, champs and cups, cakes and comebacks, schemes and dreams, and enough fun and laughter to fill the Aviva Stadium.

And it was hard to tell who was happier and prouder at the end of it all, the kids or the parents.

Either way, being the finals, today was particularly electric down at the Charlesland Soccer Mini-League.

Whilst some parents nattered, others screamed for their teams, whilst the occasional dad had to dash onto the pitch to retrieve their runaway sprog. Over in that corner, kids were getting their face painted, over there, it was the hair that was being tied into beautiful knots, whilst over the PA, the DJ hit the block, rockin’ beats, and on the pitch, the referee tried to keep the peace.

In the end, the team in orange won the big final. We just forget exactly which team that was. Watford? Or was it the team playing Watford, Wolves, in red? Yep, reckon it was those raging Wolves what won it.

Not to worry, as it’s all on our soaraway video below, featuring a stroll around the outside of the pitch in the dying minutes of the game, followed by one hell of a thrilling penalty shoot-out, the heartfelt thank you speech, and the handing out of the medals, cups and certificates. And cake.

Well done to Paul Smith and all the gang behind the league, especially the likes of the Roche construction lad, for sponsoring the event, and that Alan Rowlette lad, for once again taking all the beautiful pics during the week. We’ll hopefully have a link to the latter’s work once it’s up online.
