hen it comes to their annual regatta, the last few years haven’t been all that kind to Greystones Rowing Club.
Again and again, the boys and girls get pipped at the post, lose their footing, or, worst of all, fall foul of the rules.
But, hey, after talking to the bould Paddy Byrne during the week, it was clear that this year’s Greystones Rowing Club Regatta was going to be different.
Only, eh, it wasn’t.
We got bronze in the Boys U12s, as did the big boys – but, as John Byrne tells us, “we got disqualified at the start, unfortunately”.
So, not a great day for the town mantlepiece, but a fine day for the sport itself, as rowing clubs from all over the county and beyond came to have a sunny day out in Greystones. And take home our medals and cups.
