aving proven herself that rarest of breeds – a solicitor you’d happily hang out with – Rosemary Scallan has just become something of a high-flying legal eagle.

By being appointed a Notary Public by the Chief Justice, the Honourable Mr Justice Donal O’Donnell.

And sure, why wouldn’t she? In layman’s terms, Rosemary now has the power to certify documents used internationally, including having your passport certified, witnessing signatures on a Power of Attorney or just having your lifestyle endorsed.

Whatever it is when it comes to preparing Notarial Certificates, Rosemary is here to help. And to stamp her stamp.

“Since being appointed, I have met with many local families, individuals, couples and post graduate students,” explains Ms Scallan, who has her solicitors office in Westview House on Church Road, “and for me personally, it is particularly rewarding that I can help people in this way.

“I am greatly honoured to be a member of the faculty of Notary Publics.”

As some of you may have gathered already, our understanding of the faculty of Notary Publics is pretty darn limited but, suffice to say, Rosemary Scallan now has some kind of judicial superpowers. And unlike most solicitors, she’ll be using them for good rather than evil, her main line of work – alongside fellow solicitor, Ed Allen – being good old family law.

So, let’s just say, congrats, young Rosemary. Averil Deveril would no doubt be proud…
