t was a suitably sunny day down at the harbour today as we met up with this year’s Splash Of Colour art champ.

And given just how colourful and inspiring Polya’s winning entry Magic Bear, was, the 9-year-old artist did not disappoint.

She was every bit as colourful and inspiring as her creation, clearly very happy to have won the Guide’s annual kids art competition.

“It’s so much fun, drawing and colouring,” she says, “so, I was very happy when I saw that there was an art competition here in Greystones.

“And drawing the Beach Bear was an easy choice too. All that blue sky and green grass, and just this happy bear heading to the beach…”

Thanks to the annual sponsorship for this popular creative challenge for kids by Gordon and Deidre O’Neill down at telecommunications genie Goldfish, beyond her framed cert, Polya was also given €50 for a Greystones business of her choice.

“I’m going to get sushi!” she exclaimed when handed her trusty envelope. “In Hasu! I’m going to bring my parents too. So they can watch me eat all that lovely sushi...”
