Early in July, having trained for months – eight Pura Vida members undertook the gruelling 5-day Laugavegur Trail trek in Iceland. Led by a local Icelandic guide the group hiked over snow covered terrain, crossing roaring rivers, up and down deep canyons, walking on black volcanic rock, past spouting thermal vents, lakes, and rolling hills.

Greystones’ notorious Pura Vida Hiking Group got pretty damn high this month.
Not only did they complete the 5-day cross-country Laugavegur Trail Trek in Iceland but the fit fecks climbed the Alps too.

Here’s the official word…
On Tuesday 23 August two Pura Vida members Bill Roberts and Tom O’Mahony summited the 4,164 metre Breithorn peak, in the shadow of the Matterhorn. Two days later on Thursday, together with renowned Alpine guide Myles Bright, after an arduous 11-hour climb starting at 3am in the morning – roped together with carabiners wearing crampons and ice picks – they reached the summit of the 4,206-metre Alphubel.
