Greystones Rugby Club signed off on another season with their Annual President’s Dinner in a packed rugby club last night.
President Liam Murphy, one of the club’ss finest players, took the near 200-strong
crowd on a tour of his year with a wonderful speech capped off by the presentation of the prestigious Dan McAlister Award to the fence-painting, data-loving club stalwart David Coleman.
MC for the night was Donall Gannon, while women’s club captain Lauren Sweeney gave a wonderful speech on the strength of women’s rugby.
Another highlight was Ken Murphy deputising for club captain Eoin Marmion to give his father a roast.
Special guest Risteard Cooper brought the house down with his routine.
All enjoyed a great night, club chair Niall Savage commenting, “The president’s dinner is traditionally at the start of May and given the timing is a great chance to reflect on the season.
“Liam has been a wonderful president and we look forward our incoming President Gary Nolan bringing his own take on the year ahead…”
Stuck in the middle of the scrum and the yum was, as always, our ace roving snapper, John McGowan.
