atest press release from Cllr Jodie Neary, issued on Thursday,
April 22nd 2021…
“I am delighted that the steps going down to the water in The Cove are due to be replaced after I have raised this on many occasions since the railing was showing wear and tear. Recently, the railing on the steps leading to the water has been quite hazardous for those using it to enter the water for swimming.
“Overall, I have been calling for the maintenance of existing seafront infrastructure to ensure the safety of sea swimmers and beach users, and to encourage sea swimming which has brought many mental and physical benefits to people especially during COVID.
One key concern was the quality of the railing and the need to improve them to secure greater access for people including those with mobility issues.
