The bould Ann Conan…

After 16 years of community service with Bray Citizens Information Centre (CIC), Ann Conan has officially become a lady of leisure.

Ann recently retired after a fulfilling career where she always placed clients at the centre of her work, supporting them through their life transitions, no matter the age, gender, health or nationality. Ann’s open door approach, her warmth and determination empowered the team in Bray CIC and nurtured and inspired volunteers and staff alike.

Ann started as a volunteer Information Provider and she then successfully secured work as a paid Information Officer where she forged close relationships with her colleagues and with many people in the community with whom she worked with over the years. She particularly enjoyed the challenge of advocacy work, which enabled her to focus on her real love in the job, where she represented clients who were unable to speak up for themselves.

Ann was also interested in reaching out to marginalised communities and could be seen driving our CIC mobile information unit all over the county and delivering information to people who had little or no services in their local areas.

She could also be heard, from time to time, on our local radio station discussing the difficulties which our clients experienced and how she and the team in Bray CIC could assist and make a positive impact on their lives.

We would like to thank Ann for her industrious and joyful community service and wish her all the best on her new journey.

Funded by the Citizens Information Board, the range of areas covered by the CIS are wide including social welfare rights and entitlements and other social issues such as employment, health services, housing, education, family matters and consumer rights on which people need access to information.
