Moorehouse Murder Part Of Bray ‘Rumble’

is body having been discovered in a children’s playground on Boghall Road on Sunday, 19th, Willie Moorehouse’s death is now a murder investigation.

Gardaí arrested seven men over the following days, and now more details of what actually happened to the 35-year-old father of six.

On that fateful day, up to 14 men arrived at what was a planned ‘rumble’ between two groups, with their respective vehicles ramming one another before hand-to-hand combat commenced.

It is believed that a baseball bat and axes were among the weapons used.

This all occurred after the deceased had agreed to meet a young man for a “fair fight”, the two having been involved in a long-standing confrontation.

Speaking to The Irish Independent, a source said, “It has been suggested that every time Moorehouse met this young man, he would have a go at him, would hit him.

“This young man had enough of this and he went to two of his relatives to complain.

“It was meant to be a fair fight with no weapons and only a couple of people from both sides present.”

After Moorehouse was stabbed, the men scattered, his friends not realising that he had been seriously injured. The deceased – who lived at the Half Moon halting site on Windgates – was regarded by Gardaí as a man involved in low-level crime, whilst the younger man was considered a more serious criminal.

The seven men arrested were all connected to the young man, whilst those at the scene on the Moorehouse side – believed to be up to six men – have so far seen no arrests.

All told, close to 70 gardaí are working on the case, with over 20 searches having taken place.
