A series of mock-up postcards – selling Bray pretty much entirely on its close
proximity to Greystones – proved popular within the refined confines our good-natured, handsome and debonair town, but, perhaps unsurprisingly, there were some in our neighbouring sour-natured, physically-
challenged and decidedly fragrant town who didn’t quite see the funny side.
And so it was that the Guide convinced the Greystones Municipal District Office to send the town’s traditional Bird Of Peace as a sign of goodwill.
Due to fly over Bray for the coming seven days, hopefully Iggy The Eagle’s presence over the town will be recognised as the magnanimous gesture that it so plainly is, and will promptly put an end to any seething or long-gestating rivalry between Springfield and Shelbyville… sorry, Greystones and Bray.
Fly high, Iggy. But not too high.
We want the good people of Bray to be able to read the banner.
