Soroptimist International Bray & District celebrated their 65th anniversary in the Glenview Hotel yesterday.
It was a wonderful afternoon which celebrated 65 years of education, empowerment, and enabling opportunities for women and girls locally, nationally and internationally. SI Bray are also very proud to have supported numerous charities over the last 65 years and a special mention was made to the €200,000 worth of equipment that they supplied to the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dun Laoghaire in 2009.
Joining the celebrations on the day were representatives from SI Dublin, Drogheda, North Kildare, Wexford and Castlebar. Anne O’Sullivan, National President of SI Republic of Ireland spoke about the future of Soroptimist International.
Various members of SI Bray also spoke including Ann Broekhoven, President of SI Bray, Tanja Haak-O’Riordan, Vice-President of SI Republic of Ireland, Clare Comerford, Honorary Secretary SI Bray and SI Bray members Mary Doyle, Phyl Farrelly, Denise Holland and Annette Kennedy.
Cllr. Orla Finn facilitated the day’s proceedings. SI Bray members were grateful to the following for their sponsorship of yesterday’s raffle prizes: Brooke & Shoals, Windward Management, Fishers of Newtown and Sunway Travel.
In addition, an award was made to SI Bray member Mary Doyle to celebrate her 40 years of membership.
Ann Broekhoven, President of SI Bray said, “Our 65th anniversary party was a very enjoyable afternoon for Soroptimists past and present.
We paid tribute to the work undertaken by SI Bray and celebrated the fellowship that Soroptimists enjoy through their membership.
“We have achieved a lot in the last 65 years, but we also recognise that we have lots more to do.”
Stuck in the middle for the afternoon delight was our roving snapper John McGowan, the full gallery of his pics sitting pretty right about here.
