Charlesland Has Another Block Rockin’ Street Party

Come together…

chance for everyone to put away their phones, step outside into the real world and just hang out with your neighbours, the Harvest Festival once again brought the residents of Hawkins Wood and Aldoborough together for a very fine afternoon.

Holy, this was almost as packed as the Picnic In The Park.

With an open invitation for all and sundry from across Greystones and beyond to join in the fun agus games, there was a distinct carnival atmosphere today, with live music, food stalls (including fresh veg, courtesy of Newcastle’s long-running North Wicklow Country Market), vintage cars, Zumba with the bould Audrey, a Cool Food School workshop, a stall selling Post Traumatic Stress Balloons, some insider scoops on pet maintenance from Barks’n’Bubbles, musical bingo, the, eh, Credit Union, assorted Gardaí and firemen, the Community Garden gang, the Greystones Youth Café gang, some more vintage cars, and, as always, lots of hay bales scattered all over the shop.

Magic.

“These events are so important to build inclusiveness and strength within our young community here in Hawkins Wood and Aldoborough,” says one of the main organisers, Karl Quinn. “What a fantastic day we all shared with the support of local businesses and community services.

“There was plenty of laughter and the sun was shining brightly on our lively Harvest Festival this afternoon…”
