Could Your Little Angel Walk To School?

iven that quite a few of the family cars around here are almost as big as a school bus, getting Jnr to walk to school could help rush hour no end.

And for those who feel their little schnookums couldn’t possibly walk all the way – heaven forbid! – a new initiative has been introduced to Greystones.

Actually already up in running all around Galway, Park & Stride does pretty much what it says on the tin. You get close to the school, park the car, and take a healthy stride the rest of the way.

The place in Greystones is Tesco, who have offered their car park as a centre point for quite a few of the town’s schools, with the Educate Together gang up in Blacklion also encouraging the same. From just across the road, we think. In Lidl’s car park.

Says Cllr Lourda Scott of Park & Stride, “It helps reduce cars at the school gates and it gets kids more active!”.

So, it’s win-win, people.

Especially if you take a look at the traffic around here just before that school bell rings…
