hen we swung by Dick Kerrigan’s Glenbrook Park home last February, it was hard to tell that the man had recently turned 90.

His boundless enthusiasm and energy had him cracking jokes, making lunch and, of course, playing music.

Shouldn’t this lad be sitting in a comfy chair, with his feet up and his teeth out? Beyond his decades of community work – especially for the church – Dick and his late wife, Philomena, brought up seven strapping children, after all.

By law, you really don’t have to do a dang thing after bringing up such a large brood.

But Dick Kerrigan was always moving, always helping, always laughing. Which is a pretty fine way to live your life.

Our deepest condolences to Anne-Marie, Rachel, Ursula, Felicity, Michael, Richard and Christian. Your father will be missed…

Dick’s funeral mass will be at St Anthony’s Church in Kilcoole on Friday 10th at 12pm, followed by burial in Kilquade New Cemetery. Details here.
