Maybe it was all that enforced free time indoors, and the need to find something, anything to escape into, but the quality and imagination of our Splash Of Colour art competition entries was beyond all our expectations.
And, in quite a few cases, beyond belief, as kids as young as four produced works that would not look out of place on a gallery wall.
So, a big, big, BIG congratulations to all 96 entries. You not only created some magic, but you also entertained and enthralled an entire town for six weeks.
Just when we all so desperately needed to be entertained and enthralled.
In the end, those 96 entries garnered a staggering 730 votes, and more than a few new fans. Mercifully, this wasn’t down to some poor judges who had to choose one beauty over another but, instead, the great unwashed and unvarnished public.
And de peoples went particularly nuts for Billie Eilish by Mia Carey [right, with 69 votes], Flower Power by Shauna Sheridan [left, 61 votes] and Into The Green by Fia Cullen [bottom left, 58 votes].
The biggest number of votes went to the bould Dylan Hatton Doneganthough, this 9-year-old wunderkind’s Marshmallow Mish-Mash attracting an eye-watering, record-breaking 119 votes.
So, congrats, young Dylan. A €50 voucher for a Greystones business of your choice will be winging its way to you this week, thanks to the town’s no.1 telecommunications geeksGoldfish.
For those kids with artistic fire still to burn, until May 11th, there’s also the Hub13 art competition right now – details are right over here.
