The GCS gang FRI21APR23
he 12th East Coast FM Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning has long been one
of Greystones Cancer Support’s biggest shindigs.
And this morning at The Beach House, it was easy to see why.
Sure, everyone and her brother was there. The Gunning lass with
Baby No.2 (“That’s the name until we decide between Billy or Frankie“), The Golden Twins (celebrating their 76th birthday today), The Golden Boy (celebrating his 88th birthday, with the missus turning 87 in July), Laura Wood mooching a few more free cakes, the Kemp dogs waiting patiently outside, musicians Luke Carrig and RobbieÂ
Doyle rockin’ de house, and an overriding sense that most of these coffees must be Irish.
There were 16 main venues around the county for the big day, providing live entertainment and, of course, buckets of tea agus coffee. And cakes. And all for fine charities, such as Wicklow Hospice and, hey, Greystones Cancer Support.
Event organiser and East Coast FM producer Katie Makk says. “Thank you to every single person who held and who attended
events. It’s down to your hard work that the coffee morning has been such a success over the past 10 years.”
Other venues that took part included The Martello, The Red Bird CafĂ© and St Killian’s Community School in Bray, Kingfishers in Enniskerry, The Parkview Hotel in Newtown, the Wicklow Pastoral
Centre, Wicklow Town, The Arklow Bay Hotel, Blessington’s Coimin Centre, Kavanagh’s in Roundwood, The RDA Hall in Rathdrum, the Woodenbridge Hotel & Lodge and Little Betty’s Coffee Shop in Avoca.
But everyone knew that the place to be this morning was The Beach House…
Well done to everyone involved, from East Coast to Greystones Cancer Support. And if you couldn’t make it along, you can always donate right about here.
