We reckon the reason GG is a little befuddled and bewildered when talking with the lovely Barry and Shelley down at Eleven Deli today is pretty darn obvious.

For one, Barry and Shelley have just become parents again, and have even brought their second daughter, six-week-old Joni, into see where her future Saturday job will be.

Secondly, once you step inside the brand, spanking new Eleven Deli on Greystones’ busy thoroughfare, your suddenly rumbling tummy quickly takes over all your brain and motor functions, as you start talking jibberish and completely forget the questions you had prepared in your head.

Questions such as finding out just who are all the local suppliers that Eleven Deli use for their yummy takeaways. It was only after the rambling, rumbling chat that we discovered that the big hitters giving Eleven Deli that yummy edge are Sheridans Cheesemongers, Delgany coffee kids Roasted Brown, and, for all that soft and crispy bread and mouth-watering pastries, the award-gobbling Firehouse Bakery

Throw in the mighty Farrelly Butchers up the road, Nicky’s Village Market over in sunny Kilcoole, plus Italicatessen, and you’ve got yourself connected all over town, and beyond.

Which may go some way to explaining why Eleven Deli have hit the ground running in Greystones, thanks to their sumptuous sandwiches, salubrious-verging-on-salacious sausage rolls, those award-winning breads, pastries and cheeses, cured and cooked meats, and the fact that, eh, they might just have the best coffee in town.

And Elvis knows Greystones needs more good coffee. So we can all continue to spend our days doing something pretty close to nothing, only faster.

Now opening seven days a week – which makes this the 7-Eleven Deli, right…? – we caught up with Barry and Shelley for a quick ramble chat and tour of Greystones’ latest top-of-the-range, oven-ready, Grade-A foodie emporium to find out how this little family business came to be…

Open from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 10am to 5pm on Sundays, you can find out more about Greystones’ groovy Eleven Deli on their Facebook page right here, or call them on 012877394.
