atest press release from Tánaiste Simon Harris, issued on Monday,
June 30th 2025…
Tánaiste and Wicklow TD Simon Harris has today welcomed the first biweekly progress report from Wicklow County Council and their appointed consultants, RPS, on the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk project.
The report, issued at the request of the Tánaiste, outlines the work completed to date and sets out a clear timeline for upcoming assessments and surveys.
“This project is a top priority for me as a local TD and as Tánaiste.
“I am very pleased to see the detailed and transparent reporting now underway.
“For too long, I felt there was a lacklustre approach to solving a key local feature for residents, tourists and businesses.
“Now we have a clear reporting structure that holds the consultants and Wicklow County council to account.
“The Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk is a cherished local amenity, and its restoration and long-term safety are hugely important to our community.”
The report outlines a number of key milestones reached since the contract was awarded on June 16th.

FOCW statement
Friends Of The Cliff Walk welcome the timely interim update from RPS. We are hopeful the consultants work stream will yield a definitive short term workaround action plan to have the Cliff Walk open this summer.
FOCW have made a direct submission to RPS outlining options for the interim solution. FOCW note that RPS intends to meet stakeholders on the w/c 25th July. We are available and look forward to that meeting.
Hopefully all parties are committed to ‘make the workaround happen now’ whilst waiting for longer term recommendations. This is what the public expects.
I’m guessing nothing will be actually started until summer next year, can only be done in summer months, and will probably take 4-5 years…
They’d be better off investing in other walkways away from the cliff edge, and improving the bray head side radically – bring the chairlift back even.
The whole Head should just be bought by the State and turned into a park. Keep the WCC out of it.
