Flag Finally Raised At New Greystones Community College

Tánaiste Simon Harris TD visited Greystones Community College this morning to raise the flag as the school prepares to move into its new permanent building, a state-of-the-art facility that will make a real and lasting difference to the lives of students and staff.

The Tánaiste paid warm tribute to principal Ruairí Farrell and the entire school community for building a school that “everybody in this town and beyond already has a great sense of pride in,” the Tanaiste said.

“The sense of school community here, the excellence of what has been achieved and the pride that this town has in Greystones Community College has been really incredible. Ruairí is genuinely in a league of his own, every team needs a good leader and this school community is lucky to have him.

“This new and long awaited permanent building is going to make a huge difference to families in Greystones and beyond.

“To see the quality of the facilities we now have this is a really really great day for everybody in education and everyone in Greystones.

“I’m looking forward to being back when we can hear the buzz of a happy, thriving school community in the days, weeks and years ahead.”

The Tánaiste also praised the student leadership team for the role they have played in preparing and motivating fellow students ahead of the move and celebrated the broader transformation of Greystones as an educational town which now has three outstanding secondary schools, all with state of the art and modern facilities.

Tánaiste Harris said the new building marks a landmark moment for the town and for everyone who believes in the positive impact of excellent educational facilities to transform young people’s lives and make them reach their full potential.
