From Granada To Greystones

eeting up with Lyndsey Cavanagh outside her shiny new Greystones premises this afternoon, we were struck by one thing.

Namely, every time this lady thinks of something cool to try, it tends to happen.

Right from the five years spent in Spain and falling in love with their easy, breezy approach to style and fashion to studying jewellery design and goldsmithing in the wilds of Kilkenny, from sourcing gems and stones in Malaga to opening her shop, One Dame Lane, in 2017, it seems that the Cavanagh lass just has to dream it, and it will be so.

“I’ve never really stopped to think about should I do this, or should I try that,” she says this afternoon, as we sit in a gloriously sunny Burnaby Park. “Which is a trait that could be a blessing or a blind spot, I don’t know. All I do know is that, each time I feel good about something, it just seems to work out…”

And how. Over the five years One Dame Lane got its feet firmly on the ground, the fashion world took notice, with magazines such as Image, Tatler and The Gloss regularly highlighting their jewellery and bridal accessories. And now One Dame Lane is up for VIP’s Platinum Designer Of The Year.

Not that it’s all jewels and catwalks for Lyndsey. Finding a new home out in Greystones earlier this year opened up a whole new way of living. And working.

“I just knew, pretty much instantly, that I had to bring One Dame Lane here,” she explains. “After all my travels, and all my years searching, Greystones immediately felt like home.

“The sea, the people, the atmosphere – it’s just the perfect place to create a little magic…”
