We invite everyone to our next talk all about a shocking event that took place in the Wicklow Mountains on August 12th 1946.

It was then that a Junkers Ju 52 aircraft set out from Paris with 21 girl guides and five crew members aboard. Heading to Dublin, the passengers were guests of the Irish Girl Guides, their invitation part of a post-war goodwill visit to rekindle cultural ties and spirit after the horror of WWII.

The plane never made it to Dublin…

Taking place on Wednesday, February 18th at 7.30pm in Kilian House Family Centre, the speaker will be Jim Scannell and he will present The Air Crash No-One Saw – Djouce Mountain in 1946.

Jim is the current Hon. President of The Old Dublin Society and is a frequent presenter of talks to local history societies and a regular contributor of articles to local history society publications.

He has also compiled since 1992 the weekly Event Diary of Local History Society Meetings, which has been broadcast on several local radio stations in the Greater Dublin Area.

There will be a small charge of €3 per Member and €5 per non-member to defray the costs of the venue, and we hope to see many of you on the night.
