Glad To Be Grey

The town’s finer wines were out in force once again last night, as the Old Greystones gang held their second end-of-year reunion down at De Hot Spot.

The cunning idea of the bould Declan Cox, this latenight stagger down memory lane offers Greystonians of a certain age to reminisce and try and piece together the jigsaw puzzle of their teenage years once again.

Which is something most of us do whenever we’re feeling that end-of-year pinch of nostalgia, that sudden yearning for our misspelt yuoth.

In among the throbbing throng of threadbare beatniks and faded flower children was the ever-reliable John McGowan, making these beautiful people just as beautiful as they were when drinking bottles of cider down at the old harbour bus shelter.

Ah, sweet Jane. And how she might look at ya. Before throwing up on your clogs, and then snogging that Whelan lad from Kilcoole.
