Greystones-Bray Dart Set To Increase 50%

t’s been a series of slow trains coming, but Iarnród Éireann have unveiled their latest infrastructure plans for Greystones’ train line.

And all going to plan, it will mean three Darts every hour rather than two.

There will also be an upgrade of the Ennis Lane Level Crossing to The Cliff Walk, track alignment modifications between Bray and Greystones, and a shortening of Platform 1 at the Bray station to allow for a new track crossover.

Funded by the Department of Transport through the National Transport Authority, the planning application for this project is expected in the third quarter of 2026.

So, it’ll be another few years before we see any real changes around here, with a construction period of two years. Or thereabouts.

“The NTA welcomes the next phase of the DART+ programme being brought forward to consultation,” Hugh Creegan, interim chief executive of the National Transport Authority said.

“Enhancing rail services to the southeast is a key element of the NTA Greater Dublin Area Transport Strategy 2022-2042 and will benefit the growing communities in Greystones and the surrounding areas, enhancing connectivity and accessibility by sustainable modes.”

There will be public consultations on the Emerging Preferred Option for Dart+ Coastal South Stage 1, running until December 4th, with an in-person event at Greystones Library this Thursday, October 23rd, between 3pm and 6.30pm, and at Little Flower Hall in Bray on October 29th, also from 3pm to 6.30pm.
