Arrests
Keep reporting suspicious vehicles and persons to 999 /112 or on garda.ie. There have been a number of persons arrested this last month for variety of offences including burglary, antisocial behaviour, drugs, thefts and traffic offences. That is thanks to Gardaí and their investigations gathering evidence and suspects being identified but it also down to you!.

Keep ringing and logging those calls instead of putting it just on your local whatsapp group only. It truly helps to catch criminals.

Theft of Vehicle
A theft of a high-powered vehicle took place on the 8th March which was recovered in the south west area of Dublin. Investigations are ongoing. Three males were involved; their faces covered. In this crime the suspected offenders used a signal transferring relay device whereby it tricks the car thinking the key is present amplifying the signal from your key fob even when it is inside your house.

How this worked during this reported crime…

One thief stands near your home with an amplifier that picks up the signal from your key fob (even through walls). The signal is transmitted to a second thief standing next to your car who holds a receiver that acts as a key fob. The car unlocks and starts allowing them to drive away.

It is a sophisticated crime using technology to beat technology – advice on how to block your vehicle key fob if you have one but research your own vehicle security type advice:

1. Keep your car keys away from your car
2. Put your keys in a signal-blocking bag
3. Turn off wireless signals on your fob when it’s not in use

Kilcoole Garda Clinic
Kilcoole Garda Clinic are on Mondays at Kilcoole Community Centre from 6pm to 8pm. Pop in and chat to Community Gardaí. It works like a mini Garda station away from Greystones. You can get documents stamped including your renewal passport application. Bring I.D!

Anam Cara Parent Support Evenings
Anam Cara is an organisation providing free support to bereaved parents regardless of their age- founded by bereaved parents. There are a number of support evenings taking place at the Parkview Hotel in Newtown. The third Monday of each month from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Neighbourhood Watch
Neighbourhood Watch is a crime prevention and community safety programme for urban areas. It operates as a partnership between An Garda Síochána and the public. It works on the basis that every member of a community can help to improve the quality of life in the area by keeping a look out for neighbours and reporting suspicious activities to the Gardaí.

Neighbourhood Watch programmes aim to improve community safety, prevent crime, develop Garda and community links, increase public confidence in An Garda Síochána, foster a caring environment for older and vulnerable people and reduce anti-social behaviour, including graffiti and harassment.

In Greystones and Delgany we have many active Neighbourhood Watch programmed. Kilcoole established their entire village as one huge Neighbourhood Watch approximately 10 years ago – no mean feat which resulted in much media exposure.

Approximately a month ago we had a meeting for all local Neighbourhood area reps but if you wish for us to attend your Neighbourhood Watch street meeting for residents just give us a quick return email and we will be there.

Nationally, the latest crime figures for the fourth quarter of 2025 comparing year on year show homicide and related offences down 25%, burglary and related offences down 13%, robbery, extortion and hijacking offences down 11%, sexual offences down 9% and weapons and explosives offences up 6%.
