Greystones Foodies Feeling The Awards Love

Despite the fact that we haven’t yet managed to get a McDonald’s planted here yet, there’s no question that Greystones is something of a foodie town.

Basically, we need something to soak up all that coffee. And wine.

Given just how many fine restaurants we have, it’s always good to let the rest of the world know just how well served we are around here. And a big part of that is our favourite Greystones eateries picking up gongs in the annual Irish Restaurant Awards.

There are, of course, far too many of these awards floating around, but the heavily-sponsored Irish Restaurant Awards are undoubtedly one of the more credible gong shows. Mainly because it’s part of The Irish Times empire. Hey, 126 Burnabians can’t be wrong.

We went searching for the full list of successful nominees for this year’s Leinster round on March 6th, and young Karen from RAI Events finally got back to us with this sweet message.  “The full list of nominees is not available online and won’t be published online, and unfortunately we can’t provide the full list of nominees to you.” Which sounds like arse to us.

Still, we’re happy to report that Bear Paw, Chakra, Daata (who scored 10 nominations!), The Horse & HoundThe Hungry Monk, Las TapasCiara’s Kitchen, Buoys KitchenAndrew Holmes Catering and Eleven Deli have all received notification in de post that they’re up for gongs this year. So, congrats to all ten – and, finger food crossed, there will be a few more to add to that list shortly.

In the meantime, those IRA fecks should get their shish kebab together. And they better not feed us scraps again, like last year.

Just shocked that, once again, The Bitter Lemon has been snubbed. Tommaso has  connections. And a temper.
