Greystones Getting Too Big For Its Roots?

Cllr. Derek Mitchell has made a submission to the pre-Draft Greystones Development Plan.

Part of that submission shows that the census population two years ago was over the target population for 2028.

Since then, many houses have been occupied and more granted permission, and I expect that the population will be 26,000, 20% greater than the projected target for 2028.

I want to see the town facilities planned for the higher number not the target, including:

⦿ Another Primary and Secondary School should be zoned over and above Greystones Community College which has yet to be built 15 years after zoning by the Council.

⦿ Also more land is needed for commercial use. Greystones has the greatest number of Commuters of the any of the larger settlements, more local jobs are needed to reduce commuting.

⦿ A better DART and bus service.

⦿ Other facilities needed in the large town include, public parks, playing pitches, an hotel and an arts centre.
