t’s almost two years since the freshly-minted Greystones Media Campus Limited posted a site notice down beside Shoreline.
The notice was applying for a 10-year planning permission, so the lads clearly weren’t in any hurry.
The California-based Hackman Capital Partners and its partner, Square Mile Capital Management will be working on the project, a joint venture with the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF), Ireland’s sovereign development fund, and Capwell, an investment arm of the beloved Sisk family.
The first of 14 proposed sound stages, along with associated office, workshop and backlot spaces, are expected to be ready for business by mid-2024.
For their part, Hackman said the campus would double the high-end film and television stage capacity in Ireland “to help meet current tenant demand as a growing number of international and domestic productions are vying for existing space”.
And these guys might just know what they’re talking about. Hackman already owns 90 sound stages and seven production campuses in a $7b property portfolio that leans heavily towards film and television studios.
