Bomb Threat At Harris Family Home

ollowing a social media threat against Simon Harris’ children last week, the family home had to be evacuated on Sunday following a bomb threat.

Multiple calls were made to An Garda Síochána claiming that a bomb had been left at the Tánaiste’s Delgany home.

A Garda Dog unit and armed forces were at the Harris home on Sunday, whilst the family were moved to a secure location. Investigators have established that the calls were made to at least three Garda stations, and it would appear the calls were coordinated through the messaging app Telegram.

This follows the arrest earlier this week of a Dublin woman in her 30s for a social media threat on Saturday, August 30th to kidnap and inflict violence upon Simon Harris’ two young children, whilst on Friday, there was another threat of sexual violence made, this time towards a close family member.

There were a number arrests and criminal court cases last year following a series of death threats and protests outside the Tánaiste’s Delgany home.

In 2024, there were arrests in August last year after a bomb threat was made, plus arrests on June 20th 2024 following protests at the Harris home on June 14th and May 2nd. That August, Gardaí were also investigating an Instagram post threatening the Taoiseach and his family that they deemed “especially sinister”.

In a statement over the weekend, Harris said that “what I and my family have faced in recent weeks is not political debate. It is abuse. It is intimidation. It is behaviour that should never, ever be treated as normal…

“And no one is to blame except those choosing to abuse and make threats.”
