f Baltimore’s finest John Waters ever gets around to tackling classic pantos, he might just come up with something like Temple Carrig School’s latest offering.

Written by teacher Russell Harris with tongue firmly in cheek, this particular Jack And The Beanstalk seems to be full of magic beans.

Especially given that the plot is half Pied Piper of Hamelin, half Avengers: Infinity War.

Here’s young Russell to explain…

“Although I did write this, much of it is shamelessly stolen from other sources. It’s basically just jokes, sketch ideas and the like all blended seamlessly into an incoherent plot.”

Also blended in are about 18 of the school’s staff – including cover stars Clodagh Nic Gabhann and David O’Brien – along with a large gang of first year students, who make up the bulk of the main cast.

“Thomas Taylor Nolan and Samara Rahman play Jack and his sister, Anne,” continues Russell, “whilst quite a few of the cast play a band of elves with unusual powers. My favourite being Overcompetitive Elf, naturally enough.”

Naturally. Running at Temple Carrig on Wednesday March 2nd and Thursday 3rd, kick-off is 7.30pm and tickets are just €5.
