A family fun day kicked off yesterday with great smiles, big ice-creams, a huge bouncy castle (thanks to Ciaran Hayden!), jokerman Reuben, loads of burgers and hotdogs and some great (Emily Farrell) and not so great (plenty of them!) singers.
The event was to mark Independence Day for the Ukrainian
residents at Coolnagreina and to gather the families of those who completed Tiglin’s residential programmes and who live in Greystones and celebrate their accomplishments, many of whom had graduated Tiglin’s programme on the previous day.
Bringing smiles and welcomes on the day in true Greystones fashion were the generous SuperValu gang who made sure we didn’t go hungry, and Sonny’s who helped with some
catering essentials, but the remarkable Megan McCabe, put her entrepreneurial skills to use recently and sold handmade bracelets to raise money and buys sweet and goodie bags for the kids on the day.
“Seeing the instant joy descend upon Coolnagreina was inspiring. The parents were so grateful and the children were beaming,” said Aubrey Mc Carthy, Chairman of Tiglin.
“With the return to school just upon us, this was a great way to celebrate summer, independence and a new life,” added Tiglin CEO Phil Thompson.
“And second chances for those who have graduated from Tiglin.
“We want to thank all those who made today possible and special, in particular the people of Greystones and beyond for giving so graciously and generously.”
