Over the hill…

t was, of course, a fine achievement, 20 quite possibly mad Greystonians running all the way from The Cove to Galway Bay.

And in the process, this Mindful West Run raised over €43,000 for Crumlin Children’s Hospital and mental health charity Lust For Life.

Over the 240km stretch, one of the ringleaders, Andrea Splendori, kept an audio record of the three-day September run, the three podcast installments of Lean On Me are now available on his Social Fabric website.

Commenting on the coming together for mental health awareness, Andrea states, “From the genesis of the idea to what unfolded over the months prior to it and during the run, is an amazing story of people who came together with a common goal. What we discovered along the journey was a lot more that any of us had expected.

“It’s a story of friendships, community, relationships, resilience, achievements, tears and laughter.

“It’s a human story and one that I was keen to record in the hope that it may become a blueprint for us and others in the future. Keep the conversation going…”
