Keeping It Natural With Sasha

hen Sasha Sokolova arrived in Ireland 20 years ago, the plan was just a weekend visit to a good friend in Dublin.

As with so much in life though, that 3-day stay didn’t quite go to plan.

“I just fell in love with Ireland, instantly” says Sasha today, as we swing by her beauty salon in sunny Kilmacanogue. “I’m still not sure how it happened, that I ended up making Ireland my home, but my life just became more and more happily entwined here.

“To the point now that I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else in the world…”

Well, for a start, who would look after NB Beauty Studio, Sasha bringing 15 years of learning and experience to her own business just two years ago? And the NB stands for Natural Beauty, by the way, abbreviation fans.

“It’s a wonderful thing, if you can find something that you are passionate about,” she explains, “and 15 years ago, I realised that my passion was the beauty industry. I travelled the world, seeking out the best trainers, learning the latest techniques, and bringing all that back to my work here in Ireland.

“The more you know about this fascinating, ever-evolving world, the more you want to learn…”

It was eight years at Up To My Eyes on Theatre Lane in Greystones that gave Sasha the confidence and the know-how to go it alone, and she finally found her own beauty salon two years ago, nestled beside Avoca in Kilmacanogue.

“This is just a magical space, because you’re so easily reachable on the N11, there’s loads of free parking, and you’re sitting in between the two Sugar Loaf mountains. It’s like a little retreat away from it all.”

Taking the natural beauty approach, Sasha has combined all her learning and experience to create her own particular treatments for brows, lashes and lips. Sadly, as yet, she’s got nada for bald heads.
