La Touche Hotel Plans Submitted

It’s been a long and winding road, but the end might just be in sight for one of Greystones’ most famous landmarks.

This week, the Conservation and Construction Plan for The La Touche Hotel were submitted by the developer.

Wicklow County Council’s planning department are now reviewing the plan, and the hope is, work may commence within the next six months.

Having met the requirement of having its insides dragged out back in June, the plans to turn the property into residential properties – 5 four-storey town houses alongside 26 houses – may soon be given the green light. You can check those February, 2016 plans here.

Which will be a bittersweet moment for Greystones. To see the old hotel finally being put out of its misery won’t necessarily be easy, but its current battered and bruised existence is a painful sight to witness day after day too.

At this point, it should be pointed out that the new developer, Crimson Lane Ltd, have applied to have the hotel demolished – the previous planning permission having been granted with the stipulation that the outside walls of The La Touche Hotel can be maintained.
