The club’s annual Liam Kelly Memorial Run on September 5th to 7th once again brought members and friends together for a day of classic cars, scenic roads, and great company.

A Warm Start
Registration began at the Grove Bar, Kilpedder, where drivers and passengers gathered over tea, coffee, and fresh scones. The friendly atmosphere set the tone for the day as old friends caught up and new faces were welcomed.

Through the Garden of Ireland
After a short briefing, the convoy set off around 11:15, heading into the Wicklow Hills. The route crossed the Vartry Lakes, passed through Moneystown and Laragh, and wound across valleys and mountains before reaching the Glenmalure Lodge for a mid-morning stop. More chats, teas, and coffees followed.

From there, the run continued via Greenane and Rathdrum, down the famous Deputy’s Pass, past Kilmacurragh House, and into Wicklow Town, where the sea views were spectacular. The morning drive concluded at The Brass Fox, where participants enjoyed lunch and more time to share stories.

Celebrating with Trophies
Back at the Grove Bar, the day’s prize-giving began, recognising both cars and drivers for their unique contributions:

⦿ Newest Classic – Tony Nolan (Ford Fiesta)
⦿ Wettest Driver – Philip McKeown (open-top Jeep)
⦿ Last to Arrive – Ian Craig (Hillman Imp)
⦿ Slowest Car – Paul Hogan (1934 Austin)
⦿ Best Pre-War Car – Charlie Connolly (1929 Model A Ford)
⦿ Best Post-War Car – Thomas Morgan (1946 Mk 4 Jaguar)
⦿ Liam Kelly Memorial Cup – Michael Connolly (Volkswagen Beetle)
⦿ Furthest Travelled – Brian Drury, who made the journey from the UK

Each award drew plenty of smiles and laughter, highlighting the friendly spirit of the event.

A Fitting End
The evening closed with a beautiful meal at the Parkview Hotel, bringing the day to a relaxed and social finish. Unfortunately, Sunday’s planned Poker Run had to be cancelled due to poor weather, but spirits remained high after such a successful Saturday.
