The Hurley brothers…
ven when Jack Clarke’s exhibitions, Locals, took over The Burnaby pub back in 2006,
his stunning and stark black & white portraits already felt timeless.
Just look at Killincarrig’s Hurley brothers, above, looking as though they have just stepped out from an early Elvis gig for a quick smoke.
Again and again, Jack Clarke just captured moments that will last a lifetime, each picture telling you far more than their subject would ever have guessed.
The look, the clothes, the furniture, the pictures on their wall… Big secrets are revealed in the tiniest of details.

We spoke with Jack before, back in October 2017, and the hope then was that, now that this globe-trotter had finally come home for good, he might just be able to rescue his old photographs from some faraway boxes in a friend’s attic.
And so it came to pass. Man, these need to be let out of their boxes again, and soon.
Jack is so good a portrait photographer , even Brian Hackett looks good here…

These are fabulaous. I suppose some of us will be posted up here in these portraits ourselves any day now, looking older if not wiser.
Fantastic photographs, portraits. Really good.
Oh my some of those pictures bring back memories of neighbours I had.
