Social Democrats TD for Wicklow Jennifer Whitmore has welcomed confirmation by the HSE that premises on Hillside Road has been leased on a temporary basis for the use of the Community Mental Health Team in Wicklow in the coming weeks.

Speaking on the matter, Deputy Whitmore says, “The installation of the Community Mental Health Team at premises on Hillside Road is a great addition to the community. The team who are normally based in Newcastle are now closer to the community which makes it easier for service users to access the services they need.”

“The team which is consultant led, is multi-disciplinary local team made up of a highly trained professionals such as a consultant, social worker, community health nurse and non-consultant hospital doctors who are backed up by a team of administrators and assistants. Together they provide the services, programmes and therapies to help patients cope with illness and get better.

“While the team being based at Hillside Road in Greystones is temporary, they will be based there until they move to the planned primary care centre in Greystones. This will keep them and the vital services they provide based in the community which will enable people to access the services more readily.”

“To date, Greystones is the only district in Wicklow without a primary care centre and is an amenity that is long overdue.

“I will be calling on the government again to provide an update on the progress of the Greystones Community Care facility,” concludes Whitmore.
