ollowing her appearance at Bray District Court, former journalist Gemma O’Doherty has received a two-month suspended sentence for public order offences.

The conviction also included a fine of €750 for an incident which occurred in Kilmacanogue on August 28th, 2020.

The special sitting on Wednesday addressed the charge of threatening and abusive behaviour, refusing to give her name and address to garda, and resisting arrest, all on a footbridge at the N11 during an anti-vaccine, anti-facemask and anti-RTE demonstration.

Following complaints from the public over the banners used on the N11 footbridge, garda decided to remove them to prevent motorists being distracted from their driving. 

More than 30 supporters of O’Doherty gathered at Bray District Court at 10am on Wednesday and stayed there until 6.30pm, carrying anti-vaccination placards.

The woman described by The Beacon as a 53-year-old conspiracy theorist, failed politician and far-right activist has already lodged an appeal against the conviction.
