t’s surprising that The King and GG haven’t stopped off in The Burnaby before now, given that it’s only a scone’s throw from our regular train station meeting point.
Perhaps it was a little too obvious, given that The Artist Formerly Known As Alan Adamson has spent many a late, late, late afternoon here, wiling away the hours until that last bus to Newtown comes rattling down Church Road.
With the sun mercifully shining down after a blinky-washing-machine week of ever-changing weather, we tied Max up in the lobby – just to be safe – and were quickly served by the bould and beatific Kim Shanley.Â
We had thought Elvis would go for the warm goats cheese salad, but, surprisingly, he opted instead for the Toasted Special. Mainly because it had bacon in it. Oh, and another Americano. Mainly because it has the word America in it.
We’d had a late, late breakfast, so, we ordered the soup of the day – an old favourite, leek and potato – along with some fine and dandy homemade bread.
But no one give a good cahoots what GG was eating. It’s all down to the age-old question – did The Burnaby deliver up a lunch fit for The King…?
You can find out more about The Burnabyhere, and sit down to another lunch or two with Elvis right here.
